GOAL’s long-term partner for the past 27 years, the Child
in Need Institute (CINI), has been awarded India’s National
Award for Child Welfare 2003/04.
The award was presented by India’s Minister of Human Resource
Development, Shri Arjun Singh, in New Delhi on 14th November 2005,
to mark the universal Children’s Day in India, carrying with
it a cash prize of almost €6,000.
In a statement John O’Shea, GOAL CEO said:
“This is the second time that CINI received such a prestigious
award with the first one dating back to 1985, testament to the hard
work the organisation carries out, and the real dividends this pays
off.”
The Child In Need Institute is a leading Non Government Organisation
in India founded in 1974, and has been working to achieve sustainable
development among poor communities. Through its field programmes,
training and research, the focus has always been on health of women
and children, child nutrition and development, adolescent issues
and mainstreaming street children through education.
