SINCE Dublin Bus stopped giving change a number of years ago, passengers
have been told that they can reclaim their change on production
of their receipt in the O'Conneli Street office of Dublin Bus.
The sums of money involved are usually so small though, that people
forget or don't bother to collect it. The individual sums may be
small but, when combined, represent a considerable amount which
could make a huge difference to the lives of many thousands of people.
For example, for just EUR10 GOAL can provide a family in Sudan
with a life-saving mosquito net, or for just EUR35, feed a family
of six for a fortnight. Many hundreds of caring people in Dublin
collect their bus tickets and give them to GOAL to redeem.
This is a painless method of helping the poorest of the poor, and
one that I would ask more people to adopt. If you have any unwanted
bus tickets that you would like to donate to GOAL'S work across
the developing world please post them to GOAL at PO Box 19, Dun
Laoghaire, Co Dublin.
