Letter from John O'Shea to Sunday Independent editor, 11th
Dec 2005
Sir,
Taoiseach Bertie Ahern is correct to uneqivocally
condemn the practice of torture by any state. His stance is morally
correct and I feel certain it is appreciated by the bulk of Irish
people.
Will Mr. Ahern now address the same moral principles
to the tragedy of Ethiopia, where innocent people are being slaughtered
and imprisoned by a regime which is in receipt of €30 million
of Irish taxpayers' money?
To condemn a state which practices torture and at
the same time support a regime which practices murder, is not, I
would contend, a logical position.
Yours, etc,
JOHN O'SHEA, GOAL, Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin.
