WORKERS with Irish charity Goal are in a state of high alert for what may be the worst flooding on record in Sudan. Rainfall in east Africa has already destroyed 1,000 homes. Goal is working to help affected families in Kassala, Sudan, after 16 hours of rainfall left dozens of people dead and thousands homeless. 'Their homes, built with mud and straw are destroyed every time the floods come, and rebuilding is never strong enough to withstand the waters when they rise again,' said Goal's Conor Philips.
