Call for action against China

The Irish Sun, 24th May 2007

IRELAND should boycott the Beijing Olympics in protest at China's veto on UN intervention in Sudan. That's the claim of Goal boss John O'Shea who said: "A boycott is the only action that would make China sit up and listen."

China is a major buyer of Sudan's oil and has blocked moves to put peacekeeping troops in the crisis-hit Darfur province.

More than 400,000 have died in fighting between rebels and the government.
