A volunteer for Irish international development charity GOAL captured this photograph of a sandstorm in Khartoum, Sudan, from her balcony. Maria Leydeon, who has been GOAL's financial controller in Khartoum for seven months, said: "Everything on our window sill was completely covered in sand. It was quite surreal." No infrastructure was damaged during the storm, but residents were housbound. GOAL, which is currently celebrating its 30th Anniversary, runs emergency and development programmes in 12 developing countries. It urgently needs skilled professionals to join its team. |
